SRU recognized for outstanding state drinking water standards

Salisbury-Rowan Utilities (SRU), the water and wastewater provider for the City of Salisbury and other Rowan County municipalities, has been honored for exceeding federal and state drinking water standards last year. SRU was one of only 55 out of 6,000 North Carolina water systems to achieve the recognition for 2019.

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program funds community needs and proposed solutions in the areas of Housing, Special Needs, Economic Development, and Non-Housing Community Development. The program's Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) can be reviewed by the public and has a period of public comment. Public comment is an opportunity for members of the community to give input on a specific issue that they find important, to let us know we’re headed in the right direction.

Kesler Mill Clean Up Project Kickoff Meeting - Virtual

On Thursday, November 19 at 6 pm, the Community Planning Services Department will host a virtual kick-off meeting for neighbors and interested parties to learn more about the Kesler Mill Brownfield Cleanup Project. The virtual meeting will be help via Zoom and a link to register for the meeting is below. Attend the meeting to learn more about the timeline for cleanup, ask questions, and provide your feedback.

Job seekers invited to virtual job fair Thursday, Nov. 12

A host of community partners, including Rowan County, the City of Salisbury, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, Rowan-Salisbury School System, the Rowan Chamber of Commerce, Rowan Economic Development, NCWorks and the Centralina Workforce Development Board will hold a virtual community job fair on Thursday, Nov. 12, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The fair is open to the public.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration - Drive Thru Resource Fair

The Salisbury Human Relations Council (HRC) will host its annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Weekend in a slightly different format than previous years due to COVID-19. In summer 2019 the City of Salisbury hired McAdams, a professional engineering and design firm, to design plans to improve the safety, mobility and appearance of a 10 block section of Main Street. This project is in the stage of receiving community feedback on the plans for restriping and the opportunity to change the lanes and parking angles on Main Street.
