27th Annual Run/Walk for the Greenway 5K & Half-Mile Fun Run

Race Location/Directions: 1625 Park Road West, Salisbury, NC  28144 (former site Knox Middle School) - Take I-85 to Salisbury Exit #76 toward downtown.  Follow Innes Street straight through town to Mahaley Ave (approx. 2.5 miles).  Turn right on Mahaley Avenue, then go 0.4 miles to Park Rd. Turn left on Park Rd.  The race start will be on your left.

Start Times: 5K 8:00 a.m. | Fun Run 8:45 a.m.

Race bags & door prizes! Mostly flat, record breaking scenic course!

Awards:
Top three overall—Male and Female in 5K (Overall winners not eligible for Age Group Awards & Awards will not be mailed). $25 Downtown Salisbury Dollars from Downtown Salisbury Inc. for the top overall male and female runner/walker.
Top three in each age group—male and female in 5K.
Top three overall in Fun Run; medals to all others (ages 8 & under only)  All ages welcome to run fun run.
Age groups: 9/under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70/over.

Dry fit t-shirts guaranteed to all pre-registered runners and walkers in the 5K and cotton t-shirts for all pre-registered fun run participants. Walkers are eligible for age group awards!

Entry Fee for 5K:  $25 pre-registration (by 7-20-24); $30 race day 7:00 a.m.-7:45 a.m.

Entry Fee for Fun Run (ages 8 & under):  $10 pre-registration & race day.

Facilities:  Bathrooms available.

Bring canned goods or old running shoes to the race to donate to Rowan Helping Ministries and have a chance to win $50 Downtown Salisbury Dollars courtesy of Downtown Salisbury, Inc. www.downtownsalisburync.com.

Timing and scoring of the event will be provided by Salisbury Rowan Runners.

Course Map: Start on the parking lot side of the former Knox Middle School (school has been demolished) near Horizons Unlimited. Exit the parking lot and turn left onto W. Park Road. Continue in front of Knox Middle School then turn right at Hickory Drive, left on E. Park Road, right on W. Park Road, enter Greenway, along the Greenway to Prescott Drive, turn left on Prescott, turn right on Knollwood, turn left on Courtland Drive, turn left on Wake, turn right back onto Prescott. Proceed to end of Prescott, turn around at cul-de-sac and proceed back straight on Prescott and turn right on the Greenway by following the reverse route back to the start/finish line. The fun run will be 1/2 mile.

Current COVID-19 Restrictions

Executive Order 185:

  • Lifts the Modified Stay at Home Order established under Executive Order 181
  • Still requires face coverings in all public indoor settings
  • Allows many businesses to operate at 50% capacity
  • Extends onsite service of alcohol until 11 p.m.
  • Lifts the 100-person cap on some businesses that were operating at 30% capacity
  • Allows some indoor businesses – including bars and taverns, indoor amusement parks, movie theaters and indoor sports arenas – to open at 30% capacity (with a cap of 250 people)
  • Allows larger indoor arenas with a capacity of more than 5,000 people to open at 15% capacity with no cap (as long as additional safety protocols in place)
  • Increases the indoor mass gathering limit to 25 people (the outdoor mass gathering limit remains at 50 people)

Each of these routes arrives and departs from the central Transfer Site on Depot St. Any bus you board can take you to the Transfer Site. Any member of the public may ride on the bus. The buses do not operate on holidays.

Please note that the last time listed for a stop indicates the last bus will be traveling to that location and no further transfers are available.

Covid-19: What are the 3 w's for COVID-19? 1 Wear a cloth mask over your nose and mouth. 2 Wait 6 feet apart. Avoid close contact. 3 Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer.
