The Elizabeth Duncan Koontz (EDK) Committee, a subcommittee of the Human Relations Commission, will be celebrating this year's winners for the 2024 Elizabeth Duncan Koontz Humanitarian Awards at an invitation-only dinner.
This award recognizes people and/or groups from the Salisbury-Rowan community who have made important contributions to improving human relations in the areas of education, employment, housing, industry, business, civic, church, advocacy and community service. Nominations closed on Tuesday, April 16.
This award is named in memory of Elizabeth “Libby” Duncan Koontz who was one of the organizers who re-established the Human Relations Council in 1985. The Human Relations Council, now referred to as the Human Relations Commission (HRC), mission is to create an environment of hospitality, inclusiveness, acceptance and appreciation of the diversity of all people.
