The Salisbury City Council is dedicated to a Salisbury for All. In keeping with the City’s Mission, Vison and Core Values, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Department will work to ensure equitable, inclusive, service and opportunities that demonstrate the commitment to every member of this great, diverse community and embraces all races, cultures, sexual orientations, genders, religions and physical abilities.

The department will lead the work to:
  • Integrate Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in every activity and decision made by the City.
  • Cultivate an organizational culture that models and promotes the City’s Core Values and reflect the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Review citywide policy development and execution.
  • Increase opportunities for community dialogs and engagement.

Anne Little

DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION DIRECTOR

Anne Little

Anne Little is the City of Salisbury's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Director. In this role, she develops and facilitates a comprehensive DEI training module that can be used to improve the cultural competency of police employees and other city staff as needed. She also is staff liaison for the Fair Housing Committee

Prior to her position with the City, Little served as an adjunct instructor and coordinator of community education centers for Davidson County Community College (DCCC) in Lexington. There she oversaw DCCC’s Thomasville and Lexington Education Centers, leading community engagement, working with partner agencies on training and collaboration initiatives, and identifying and coordinating continuing education classes to meet community residents’ needs.

Prior to her work with DCCC, Little also served as a consultant with various government, public affairs and social concerns groups, as well as positions with the NCAA and Livingstone College. Little, a Salisbury native, holds a bachelor’s degree from Livingstone College.
