What is the Planning Board?

The Planning Board is responsible for providing growth management and land development policy, zoning ordinance (LDO) and development proposal recommendations to the City Council.


Meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in City Council Chambers, 217 South Main Street, Salisbury, NC 28144.


The Board of Adjustment meets the 4th Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, as necessary, with public notice.

Special Requirements: Two of the Planning Board’s 12 members must be appointed from the City of Salisbury’s Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) area.

The City of Salisbury has 14 active, standing boards and commissions created and appointed by Salisbury City Council.

REQUIREMENTS


Board terms are staggered for two-year or three-year terms and most end on March 31. Applicants must be 18 and a Salisbury resident, with some exceptions.
