Salisbury Fire Department to hold a live fire burn on Bringle Ferry Road

The Salisbury Fire Department will conduct a live fire training burn on Thursday, June 6, at 1435 Bringle Ferry Road.

The training, set to begin at 9 a.m., will allow the 2019 recruits to gain hands-on experience on how to observe the behavior of a fire as well as how to work together for when the situation is not controlled.

Residents in the area are advised to keep their windows and doors closed while the burn is in progress. In addition, residents may encounter the following conditions during or following a fire department live burn as it relates to water:

• A temporary drop in water pressure to your residence or place of business
• Rusty brown, or cloudy water (These conditions will subside after the high use of water is completed).

Helpful Hints to Remember:
• Although the water is discolored and may look unclear or tinted, the water is not harmful or contaminated
• Do NOT wash white or light-colored laundry until the water runs clear

Methods to obtain clear water more quickly:
• Open the cold water faucets and let the water flow until it is clear. Turn off the faucets
• Open the hot water faucets and let the water flow until it is clear. Turn off the faucets
• When both hot and cold water are clear, the water is ready for use as normal
• Check the faucet screens for trapped particles
• Wash a load or two of dark-colored clothes first

The fire department will do their best to avoid smoke coming toward homes and businesses. For more information or questions, contact Salisbury Fire Department at (704) 638-5351.
