Paint the Pavement Artwork Brightens Street Corner

Five murals were completed over the weekend as part of the Salisbury Public Arts Commission and Downtown Salisbury’s “Paint the Pavement” art initiative. The crosswalk art installations, at the intersections of Lee and Kerr Streets, were selected in 2021 but were put on hold due to a paint shortage.

The new art reflects the history, culture, and vibrancy of Salisbury, and displays creativity and diversity. Here is the list of the artwork and artists:

  • "Let's Walk Together" by Yesi Abney
  • "Kids" by David Gaines
  • "TRUE UNITY = TRUE POWER" by Karrissian Mickel
  • "Growth Looks Different Ways" by Center for Faith & the Arts, Henderson High School Students, lead by Shane Manier
  • "Nurtured Nature" by Center for Faith & the Arts, Henderson High School Students, lead by Shane Manier

Special thanks to sponsors: City of Salisbury, Public Art Commission, DSI, Prestige Pressure Wash, Sherwin Williams, and Mean Mug
