Salisbury Police Department Investigating Two Homicides Occurring April 13 and 14, 2024

The Salisbury Police Department responded to Novant Hospital in reference to an individual who had been brought to the hospital with a gunshot wound on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at approximately 9:08 PM.  Officers arrived and identified the individual as Shaleek Jaqwon Williams (26 years old) and confirmed that he had sustained a gunshot wound. Officers were able to determine that the incident occurred at 709 West Kerr St (Jersey City Park) in which Mr. Williams was at this location for a memorial service.   Mr. Williams was transported to Presbyterian Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Salisbury Police Department officers were dispatched to 1433 Old Wilkesboro Rd. in reference to a shooting on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at approximately 2:06 AM. Upon officers arriving, they located a female who has been identified as Alyssia Nicole Salter (21 years old), with a gunshot wound.   Miss Salter was transported to Baptist Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

At this time, no arrests have been made for either incident but the Salisbury Police Department is working with State and Federal partners to bring this investigation to a resolution and to develop ideas on how to prevent this kind of senseless violence.

The Salisbury Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is actively investigating both incidents.  Due to the nature of this investigation, no further information will be released at this time.

The Salisbury Police Department would like to extend our prayers to the Williams and Salter families.
