After a year of discussions and planning, the new Teen Center at the Miller Recreation Center, 1402 W. Bank St., will celebrate its grand opening Saturday, March 3 at 11:30 a.m.

Following a call by citizens for fun, safe programming for youth in the community and affordable options for parents, the parks and recreation department began to formulate a plan to introduce a Center in early 2017.

The annual cemetery cleanup is scheduled for March 12-16 in preparation for the seasonal cemetery mowing in early April. Residents are asked to remove flowers, gifts and other mementos off of their plots before Monday, March 12. Anything on plots during the week of March 12-16 will be removed and discarded.

The Mid-Atlantic Gigabit Innovation Collaboratory (MAGIC), in partnership with Fibrant and various other localities from across the nation, will host its fifth Capture the Flag (CTF) competition, Saturday, April 21, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Fibrant CTF event will be held on the same date and time at Salisbury City Hall, 217 S. Main St.

The Salisbury Police Department recently uploaded its 2017 Annual Report to its city webpage at salisburync.gov/SPD. The report, featuring the department’s maxim of “Every neighborhood has an officer and every officer has a neighborhood,” is a first for the department.

Teen Movie Night will be Thursday, March 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. Located at City Park Teen Room, 316 Lake Dr.

Meetings are held the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall, 217 South Main St. Salisbury, NC 28144.

The Tree Board meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. via Zoom meeting.

Celebrate the warming weather by getting a free photo with the Easter Bunny at the Bell Tower! Spring crafts, snacks and family-friendly fun will also be available. While you’re in the downtown you can spend the afternoon shopping and strolling through the downtown boutiques and gift shops.

Ring in the Spring at the Bell Tower will be on Saturday, March 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Located at Bell Tower Park, corner S. Jackson and W. Innes.
