Salisbury Police Report - Homicide 05/15/2019

At approximately 4:45 on May 14, 2019 Rowan County 911 received a call from a driver who advised that his passenger had been shot and that he was enroute to the hospital with the victim.  Officers responded to Novant Rowan Medical Center and confirmed that a subject had arrived at the facility with multiple gunshot wounds.

Despite the efforts of the Emergency Room staff, Mya Michelle Miller B/F age 19 of Salisbury was pronounced deceased.  After speaking to the driver of the vehicle it was determined that the shooting had taken place at the intersection of N Long St and E 11^th St in Salisbury.  Detectives were able to get a detailed description of a suspect and also the vehicle that the suspect was driving.

At approximately 915 pm that evening, several calls came into 911 of a subject shooting into a vehicle and also a house in the areas of Victory Street and Fairmont Ave.  Officers were in the area quickly and spotted a vehicle that matched the suspect vehicle from the homicide.  Officers conducted a traffic stop and took Jeffrey Wayne Hooker Jr, B/M age 32 of Salisbury into custody for Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle.

Evidence collected at the scene linked Mr Hooker with the earlier shooting of Ms Miller.  Hooker was additionally charged with Murder and a second count of Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle.  Hooker was processed at the PD, taken before a magistrate and placed in the Rowan County Jail under no bond.
