The Salisbury Police Department is investigating the death of a 14-year old on Sunday, Sept. 12, in the 800 block of Maple Ave. Preliminary information suggests the shooting was accidental.  

Officers were informed that a group of kids were playing video games at the home when a gun, later identified as stolen from another location, accidentally discharged while being passed around.

The victim, a Salisbury High School student, was transported to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. 

Due to the sensitivity of the death, local schools are on precautionary lockdown.
