Main Street Project Streetscape Update

The Main Street Streetscape Project remains in development as construction reviews continue. Coordination with the North Carolina Department of Transportation has taken longer than anticipated to ensure the best possible outcome when construction begins.

Once plans are finalized, a public meeting will be held for downtown business owners, property owners, City staff, and the community to review the project and timeline. An official construction start date has not yet been determined and will depend largely on material lead times.

Updates will continue to be shared as the project progresses.

When plans are finalized, property owners within the project limits will also have an opportunity to upgrade their water taps to improve fire protection. Additional information will be provided at that time.
