SPD secures warrants on Jeffrey Long

Salisbury Police have secured an additional warrant charging Jeffrey Alan Long, 49, with Felonious Inciting a Riot. Mr. Long was initially arrested for Discharging a Firearm within the City Limits, Carry a Concealed Weapon, and Being Armed During a Protest this past Sunday for discharging a firearm on W. Innes St. and N. Council St.
Today, Gemale Black, president of the Salisbury-Rowan NAACP, met with Salisbury Police Chief Jerry Stokes and Deputy Police Chief Shon Barnes to ask for a review of the case and provide additional information regarding Long’s interactions with protestors near the Fame statue.
“I want to express my appreciation to Mr. Black for bringing this additional evidence to our attention,” said Chief Stokes. “The events of Sunday were still under investigation by our detectives as noted in our initial notice. It’s helpful when members of the public and community stakeholders are able to assist us with cases, particularly crimes that deal with threats to public safety.”
