The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) is pleased to offer the Historic Preservation Inventive (HPI) Grant program, which offers matching grants for exterior maintenance projects for residential homes within Salisbury’s Local Historic Districts: Brooklyn-South Square, Downtown, Ellis Street Graded School, North Main Street, and West Square. Maximum grant awards are $2,500, with low to moderate income households being eligible for up to $7,500. Grant applications are due Friday, October 10, 2025.

The Historic Preservation Incentive Grants provide a modest economic stimulus to owners of homes in Salisbury’s Local Historic Districts to help stabilize, preserve, and maintain the historic character of the individual structure and historic district in accordance with Salisbury’s Local Historic Standards.

Grants are awarded on a competitive basis for exterior maintenance and stabilization projects of residential homes, both owner and renter-occupied, within any of the locally-designated historic districts identified with Local Historic Overlay (LHO) zoning.
