Chit, Chat & Chew Town Halls allow residents to engage City Council

Salisbury City Council and city staff will host the first in a series of community town hall meetings titled, Chit, Chat & Chew, Thursday, May 24, beginning at 5:15 p.m., at City Park Recreation Center, 316 Lake Dr. The first event will be held for residents in the “Park and Medical” area of the city which encompasses neighborhoods around City Park, the hospital and the North Main Street area.

The city’s Dixonville-Lincoln Memorial Project Task Force is set to hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, May 31, at 10 a.m., at 210 Old Concord Rd. to celebrate the start of construction of a project to honor a pre-Civil War African-American cemetery.

E. Innes Street Bank Robbery Statement

On Thursday, May 31 at approximately 12:36 p.m. a person entered the First National Bank at 322 E. Innes Street in Salisbury and robbed the location of an undisclosed amount of money. Officers were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle and engaged in a multi-jursidictional vehicle pursuit, which led them to 1101 Mendenhall Street in the City of Thomasville. 

Salisbury Bank Robbery Suspect Identified

The suspect in the bank robbery at First National Bank yesterday, and who subsequently was shot by a Salisbury Police Officer, has been identified as: Jerick Raheem Gray (4/19/76), a resident of High Point, N.C. Gray died yesterday evening at the hospital of injuries resulting from being shot by the officer. Gray was identified as the driver of the vehicle that officers pursued after the bank robbery.

Salisbury Neighborhood Action Group (SNAG)

The Salisbury Police Department hosts a monthly Salisbury Neighborhood Action Group (SNAG) meeting. At these meetings, citizens will hear monthly updates concerning drug investigations, criminal investigations, and code enforcement issues.

Second Chit, Chat & Chew City Council Town Hall to engage Central City Square, West End, Fulton Heights, West Square residents

Salisbury City Council and city staff will host the second in a series of community town hall meetings titled, Chit, Chat & Chew, Tuesday, June 26, beginning at 5:15 p.m., at J.C. Price Legion Post, 1433 Old Wilkesboro Road. This event will be held for residents in the Central City Square and “West End” area of the city, which encompasses neighborhoods such as the West End, Fulton Heights and West Square.
