Salisbury Mayor Al Heggins will host area youth at a free baseball camp as part of the annual United States Conference of Mayors’ (USCM) support of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) “PLAY BALL SUMMER” initiative. The program focuses on the fun nature of baseball, and encourages an active and healthy lifestyle for children in all communities.
On Saturday, Aug. 31, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Catawba College Newman Park baseball field located at 598 Summit Ave., there will be a baseball camp for Salisbury boys and girls, ages seven to 15. The camp will be led by Catawba College baseball and softball teams, who will teach the fundamentals of baseball.
Free transportation will be provided from Hall Gym beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31. Pre-registration is recommended by calling (704) 638-5286 or online at www.salisburync.gov/play.
