Input, listening sessions funded by $25,000 Duke Energy Grant
The Salisbury Police Department (SPD) continues its series of in-person conversations with neighbors in various Salisbury communities thanks in part to a $25,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation as part of the energy company’s $1 million pledge to social justice and racial equity in North Carolina.
Rowan County is hosting a community Special Waste Disposal Day on Wednesday, October 12, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Rowan County Recycling Processing Center located at 1102 N. Long Street Extension, East Spencer.
This event is free to the Rowan County public and is intended for the proper disposal of household garbage and recyclables.

Weekend kicks off with Buskers’ Bash
Downtown Salisbury hosts its first Bell Tower BREWFEST beer festival, Saturday, Oct. 8, at Bell Tower Green, in partnership with the Historic Salisbury Foundation’s OctoberTour weekend of events. Visitors are able to purchase combination tickets to both events, celebrating all things craft beer, history, music and fun.
Mayor Karen Alexander shares her thoughts with local media about the ongoing discussions about an American flag at Bell Tower Green. As Mayor Alexander mentioned during the Tuesday, August 2nd City Council meeting, infrastructure changes at our community facilities should be approved via proper channels. In this case, the Bell Tower Green Advisory Committee is the appropriate group to talk through feasibility, location, and funding for a flag structure at the park.
The City of Salisbury is currently accepting applications for membership to the Salisbury Youth Council (SYC). Salisbury Youth Council is a service-oriented organization for youths aimed to enhance and build a more positive community. SYC members serve the community at large, learn about local government, attain leadership skills and participate in programs and community service projects.
Salisbury Fire Department responded to an outside forklift fire that was quickly extinguished by Engine 6. There were no injuries and the Salisbury Fire Department’s Fire Marshal’s Office and Rowan County Fire Marshal continue to investigate the cause of the fire along with the Henkel staff. Thank you to all the responding agencies who assisted Salisbury Fire - Locke, Granite Quarry, Kannapolis FD, Salisbury Police and Rowan County Emergency Services.
