An update to the victims' conditions following the recent incident at Livingstone College:
Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Livingstone College family and the victims of the incident that occurred on campus late yesterday evening. Although, the Salisbury Police Department is still very early in its investigation, additional information is being made available by law enforcement.

Five murals were completed over the weekend as part of the Salisbury Public Arts Commission and Downtown Salisbury’s “Paint the Pavement” art initiative. The crosswalk art installations, at the intersections of Lee and Kerr Streets, were selected in 2021 but were put on hold due to a paint shortage.

On Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022, at approximately 12:52 AM, the Salisbury Police Department was dispatched to 1433 Old Wilkesboro Rd. in reference to a shooting that had just occurred. Arriving Officers located Auburn Odell Clement (27 years old male) with injuries consistent of a shooting. First responders attempted life saving measures but Mr. Clement succumbed to his injures.
After months of planning, establishing its board of directors, and some preliminary fundraising, the Salisbury Police Foundation (SPF) is preparing its official kickoff campaign next month.
Salisbury Police Department (SPD) Lieutenant Patrick (P.J.) Smith has been promoted to captain, following the retirement of Capt. Melonie Thompson. Most recently, Smith served as special investigations lieutenant.
