On November 5, 2025, the Salisbury Police Department Violent Crimes Unit placed Messiah Swindell (25 years old) under arrest for the shooting that occurred on October 4, 2025, in the 1100 block of West Horah Street.
Mr. Swindell was identified after the Police Department received numerous tips from the community. Mr. Swindell was charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury. Mr. Swindell was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under no bond.
The Salisbury Police Department would like to thank all the community members who provided information that helped identify the suspect. Without the cooperation from the community, this investigation would not have been brought to a quick resolution.
