After conducting a national search and recruitment process, Salisbury City Manager Jim Greene has named Mark Drye as the new Finance Director. Drye will replace current Finance Director, Wade Furches, who is retiring at the end of February.
Drye has been with the City of Salisbury for 29 years. He joined the organization in May 1996 as an Accountant and has served as Management Analyst (2005) and Finance Manager (2022), where he managed the day-to-day financial operations, general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, payroll and the City’s investment portfolio. Mark was promoted to Assistant Finance Director in 2024.
“Far and away Mark’s experience, institutional knowledge and communication style uniquely qualified him to become Salisbury’s next Finance Director,” said Greene. “He is known to be a team player, open and ready to collaborate with departments and the community. I’m confident that Mark will continue to lead Salisbury’s positive financial path forward.”
"It is a privilege to continue serving the Salisbury community and to lead such an exceptional finance team”, said Drye. “I look forward to partnering with our city departments as we work together to deliver excellence and accountability for every citizen we serve."
Drye earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Pfeiffer University and is a Certified Local Government Finance Officer and a member of the North Carolina Local Government Investment Association. He officially filled the position on January 5 and will work closely with Furches over the next two months
