The City of Salisbury has received a $350,000 grant that will help bring green space to downtown Salisbury.
The state announced grants totaling $6.7 million in funds had been awarded from the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF), and Salisbury was among the 27 local parks and recreation projects across North Carolina to receive funding.
The Bell Tower Green Park, currently in the design phase, is managed by Bell Tower Green, Inc., who has collaborated with the city during the process. Once this phase is complete, the city plans to use the state grant to assist in the implementation of recreational components such as a playground, interactive gardens, and a water feature area at the planned Bell Tower Green Park.
“The Bell Tower Green Park project will be a premier facility nestled in the downtown area giving our citizens a place to relax and experience recreational opportunities,” said Nick Aceves, Salisbury parks and recreation director. “This project coupled with the Empire Hotel project will be an economic boom for our city and the downtown area. We are excited to join the countless other cities that have invested in a downtown green space and look forward to seeing all of the positive benefits it will provide for our residents.”
The Parks and Recreation Trust Fund is administered through the state Division of Parks and Recreation and was established in 1994 by the N.C. General Assembly.
