It is with profound sadness that the City of Salisbury announces the passing of Mayor Karen Alexander, a dedicated public servant whose leadership and vision guided the city toward a brighter future. Mayor Alexander, first elected to Salisbury City Council in 2013, served as mayor during two separate terms beginning in 2015 and again in 2020. Throughout her tenure, she focused on strengthening the community’s economic base, expanding opportunities for residents, and enhancing the overall quality of life.
For the second consecutive year, the Salisbury Community Appearance Commission invited the public to help select the best downtown holiday decorations. Voters were presented with six categories and had the opportunity to enter their names into a drawing for Downtown Dollars, encouraging robust participation and community engagement.
On Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at approximately 7:15 a.m., the Salisbury Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 110 Thermoid Way. Firefighters arrived on the scene within minutes to find advanced fire conditions in a commercial structure.
