SALISBURY, NC – Today, the White House and US Ignite announced that Salisbury, NC has joined the Smart Gigabit Communities program, a network of communities that have each committed to leveraging next-generation smart city and Internet technologies to keep pace with the world’s rapidly changing, information technology-driven economy.
--Moves create direct reporting relationships to assistant city managers--
Salisbury, N.C., (Friday, Sept. 16, 2016) –Various departments within the City of Salisbury organization will now report directly to the municipality’s Assistant City Managers Zack Kyle and John Sofley. The change is effective Monday, Sept. 19.
Salisbury, N.C., (Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016) -- Evans Ballard, Salisbury’s budget and benchmarking analyst, will assume the leadership role on an interim basis for Fibrant, the municipality’s city-owned fiber optic network, and its infrastructure services, effective immediately.

-- Sculpture dedication to be held Friday, Aug. 5 at the Rowan Museum --
Salisbury, N.C., (Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016) – In commemoration of George Washington’s visit to Salisbury, N.C. in 1791, the Salisbury Public Art Committee commissioned a sculpture for the front lawn of the Rowan Museum, the site where Washington greeted colonial citizens and attended a ball 225 years ago. The Public Art Committee and Mayor Karen Alexander, along with the Rowan Museum and the Salisbury- Rowan Convention and Visitor’s Bureau will dedicate the sculpture “George Washington Visits Salisbury,” Friday, Aug. 5, at 3:30 p.m. at the Rowan Museum. Members of the public are invited to attend the reception following the dedication.
