Two teens captured following drive-by shooting incident

On Saturday February 11, 2017 at 12:46 pm Salisbury Police were called to 707 Victory St. in reference to a drive-by shooting. Two people had been shot and the suspects had left in a light blue van traveling towards Lincolnton Rd. When officers arrived they located the two injured victims. They were taken to Novant Rowan Regional Medical Center for treatment for non-life threatening injuries. Victim, Fred Miller Jr of Salisbury was transferred to Presbyterian Hospital for further treatment and victim, Santario Johnson of Salisbury was treated and released.

Information was given out to surrounding agencies about the shooting and the description of the van. An East Spencer officer located the van and three suspects at 200 Grant St. at the Weant Street apartments. All three were taken to the Salisbury Police Department for questioning.

Jermaine Lafayette Robinson, age 16, of Kannapolis was charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to inflict serious injury and one count of assault by pointing a gun. He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $75,000 bond.

Elijah Da’Swan Leach, age 17, of Salisbury was charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to inflict serious injury. He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $20,000 bond. First appearance was set for Monday February 13, 2017 on both subjects.

The third person, a juvenile, was released with no charges.
