Salisbury Police are actively working two separate homicides that occurred overnight

On Sunday a 1:22 a.m. Salisbury Police were called to the Firewater Restaurant and Lounge at 122 Avalon Dr reference a shooting. When officers arrived they were notified that someone had been shot in the parking lot and had been taken to Novant Health Rowan Regional Medical Center by private vehicle. The victim, identified as Sharod Raheen Mathis age 22, died of his injuries. Salisbury Police Criminal Investigators and the State Bureau of Investigations are working the case.

On Sunday at 4:19am Salisbury Police, Fire and EMS were called to 200 Harrel St reference two people shot. When officers arrived they located a 56 year old victim with a gunshot wound to the leg who was then transported to the hospital. The second victim was a 7 year old, who was deceased at the scene.

Salisbury Police Criminal Investigators and the State Bureau of Investigations are working this case together.
