2024 National Night Out and Community Resource Fair

Local community agencies, Salisbury neighborhoods and law enforcement once again are collaborating for the annual combined Back-to-School Community Resource Fair and Salisbury Police Department National Night Out event, Tuesday, Aug. 6, beginning at 6 p.m. at Bell Tower Green.

The Human Relations Commission’s Community Resource Fair brings together local agencies specializing in health, addiction, education and family support in one place to support local families as students head back to school. Students will receive backpacks with a selection of school supplies. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Backpacks will be provided while supplies last. Information on senior services will also be available.

Founded in 1984 by the National Association of Town Watch, National Night Out is an annual campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and builds neighborhood camaraderie. The nighttime event, typically held the first Tuesday in August, also increases awareness of local law enforcement programs such as neighborhood watch and anti-crime initiatives.

This year the Salisbury City Council meeting will be held on the same date, however at an earlier 3 p.m. start time so that Council members can attend to join in this community event following the meeting’s adjournment.

Neighborhoods interested in participating at the event at Bell Tower Green can register online at https://form.jotform.com/82036110434948, no later than noon, Thursday, Aug. 1. Neighborhoods interested in a Salisbury Police Officer visit to their community should contact Officer S. Jackson at communityengagement@salisburync.gov or call (704) 638-5272.

For more information, please contact Linda McElroy, Communications Director at lmcel@salisburync.gov or call (704) 638-4460 or Anne Little, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at anne.little@salisburync.gov or call (704) 638-5218.
