Recycling Do’s and Don’ts - 2024


Preparing your recycling for collection in Salisbury is easy! Just remember a few simple tips:

  • No bagging your recyclables – keep them loose in the cart.
  • Empty and rinse containers to ensure no food or liquid remains.
  • Screw caps back onto plastic bottles before tossing them in.
  • Break down cardboard boxes to save space.
  • Remove plastic film from any recyclable materials.

Following these steps helps keep the recycling process smooth and efficient.

Recyclable:

  • Mixed paper, junk mail, newspapers and magazines
  • Cardboard
  • and jugs #1,2,5
  • Aluminum, steel and tin cans

Not Recyclable:

  • Glass - take to Rowan County Recycling Center
  • Plastic bags and plasti film
  • Styrofoam
  • Plastic hangers

How to place your trash and recycling bins:

Place your bin at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on your collection day. The bins must face the road and have 3 feet of clearance on either side. All items must be fully inside the bin and the lid must be closed. Happy recycling!
