The Salisbury Police Department (SPD) is currently investigating a fire determined to have been intentionally set at a home early this afternoon.

The Salisbury Fire Department (SFD) arrived on the scene of the structure fire at the multi-family apartment complex at 1100 W. Fisher St. Crews were able to extinguish the fire concentrated in a second-floor bedroom.

Following a preliminary investigation, Salisbury Fire Loss Prevention determined the fire was intentionally set, triggering an arson investigation by SPD. A suspect is currently being identified. Additional information will be made available as the investigation continues. 

The Rowan County American Red Cross is assisting families displaced by the incident.
