Salisbury welcomes “Goodbye, Butterfly” film production

Salisbury will serve as the backdrop for yet another film this year beginning Monday, Dec. 2 through Sunday, Dec. 22.

According to independent film producers, “Goodbye, Butterfly” centers around a loving family man who after his eight-year-old daughter is murdered, becomes convinced the oddball down the street is guilty and holds the person hostage in his suburban basement. As he attempts to torture the truth out of him, police investigates the recent disappearance of a second child.

Wayne Young, the movie’s writer, is scheduled to direct. Lead role actors will be announced at a later date.

“Goodbye, Butterfly” will be filmed throughout the city, including downtown Salisbury and in select neighborhoods. Some film locations are still being determined. Residents who are interested in offering studio apartments, basement homes, wooded areas or fields near houses or storefronts that can be filmed, please email gbbfilm@gmail.com. A small fee will be provided for use of the locations.

A cast and crew of just over 30 people will be involved, with 20 additional local hires anticipated to fill roles such as production assistants, extras and other various support roles. Sixty percent of the overall budget is expected to be spent locally, including local caterers.

Impacts to roadways and public areas will be shared via the city’s social media platforms and at www.salisburync.gov/film.

Local residents are invited to apply as extras for multiple scenes. Extras will be provided IMDb credit, crawl credit and a meal.. Casting agents are looking for men, women and children of all races and ages. Those interested should send an email including: full name, age, cell number, location you live, two photos with no filters to gbbfilm@gmail.com with subject line: EXTRAS.
