Hermes Creative Awards bestowed for print design, photography projects

The City of Salisbury communications and fire departments have been recognized for recent print design and photography projects by the Association of Marketing Communications Professionals (AMCP) during the 14th annual Hermes Creative Awards. The awards program recognizes outstanding work in the industry, while promoting the philanthropic nature of marketing and communication professionals.

Salisbury won a total of four awards and received two honorable mentions:

  • The Lamplighter Newsletter, Platinum Award
  • Salisbury Community Appearance Commission/Tree Board Award Invitation, Gold Award
  • Salisbury Fire Department Yadkin Bridge Rescue Image, Gold Award
  • Salisbury Transit Outdoor Billboard, Gold Award
  • Salisbury Greenway Logo Re-design, Honorable Mention
  • 2019 Cheerwine Headlining Band Announcement Video, Honorable Mention

“I am extremely proud of the city’s communications team on their latest recognition by their marketing communications colleagues,” said Salisbury City Manager W. Lane Bailey. “Communications with our residents is very important, particularly in light of our current circumstances surrounding COVID-19. It’s imperative that you follow at least ONE of our award-winning communication methods to know what’s going on in our community. An informed citizenry is a strong citizenry.”

Hermes Creative Awards is administered and judged by the AMCP. Established in 1995, the international organization consists of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, media production, and freelance professionals. AMCP is one of the largest and oldest, third-party evaluators of creative work in the world. As part of its mission, AMCP fosters and supports the efforts of creative professionals who contribute their unique talents to public service and charitable endeavors.

Recent winners were selected from over 200 categories grouped under advertising, publications, marketing, branding, integrated marketing, public relations/communications, electronic media, and pro bono. This year, Salisbury is in good company. Companies such as Dell, Carmax, AARP, and Stanford University were also recognized in the early 2020 competition. The complete 2020 competition is expected to draw 6,000 entries. A list of Platinum and Gold Winners can be found on the Hermes Creative Awards website at www.hermesawards.com

The Hermes Creative Awards are given annually to marketing communications teams around the world. According to its website, “Utilizing a consensus judging system, the judges verbalize their criticisms, compliments etc. and then agree on a score. Entries receiving scores between 90-100 points are Platinum Winners. Entries with 80-89 points are Gold Winners. Entries scoring from 70-79 receive Honorable Mention recognition.”
