Today at 2:20 pm, officers responded to the intersection of Jake Alexander Blvd. and Faith Rd. Officers found two trucks that were involved in a motor vehicle crash.
The driver of one of the trucks said that he entered the intersection on a green light, and that a driver of a Ford F-150 truck came through the intersection where they collided. The driver, Andrew Robert Culp of Gold Hill, said that he applied his brakes, but could not avoid the crash. The passenger in Mr. Culp’s vehicle, Larry Clifford Shaver Jr, also stated that they had the green light and tried to avoid hitting the other vehicle. Neither Mr. Culp nor Mr. Shaver sustained any injuries.
Mr. Culp’s truck careened into an electric pole, and Duke Energy was called to cut the power to get the driver and the passenger out. The other vehicle, the Ford F-150 truck, continued after the crash over the curbing and came to rest in the yard of the Thrivent Financial business office. The driver of the Ford truck was ejected from the vehicle, and law enforcement on the scene attempted CPR, but could not revive him.
The Salisbury Police Department extends their condolences to the family of the deceased.
