Recycling Do’s and Don’ts - 2024

Preparing your recycling for collection in Salisbury is easy! Just remember a few simple tips:

No bagging your recyclables – keep them loose in the cart.
Empty and rinse containers to ensure no food or liquid remains.
Screw caps back onto plastic bottles before tossing them in.
Break down cardboard boxes to save space.
Remove plastic film from any recyclable materials.

Following these steps helps keep the recycling process smooth and efficient.

Recyclable:

Mixed paper, junk mail, newspapers and magazines
Cardboard
and jugs #1,2,5
Aluminum, steel and tin cans

Not Recyclable:

Glass - take to Rowan County Recycling Center
Plastic bags and plasti film
Styrofoam
Plastic hangers

How to place your trash and recycling bins:

Place your bin at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on your collection day. The bins must face the road and have 3 feet of clearance on either side. All items must be fully inside the bin and the lid must be closed. Happy recycling!
