The Salisbury Police Department hosted its Women in Law Enforcement Luncheon in celebration of National Police Women’s Day on Tuesday, Sept. 12. The luncheon brought together more than 70 remarkable women from various law enforcement agencies, including police departments, sheriff’s offices, and state agencies, representing a broad spectrum of leadership roles.
“This event is important because it brings awareness to the importance of women in law enforcement,” said Salisbury Police Corporal Shakya Jackson. “Regardless of what agency they work for or the job title they hold, we want women to know they are not alone in this profession. The takeaway is empowerment. I want women to know that despite the adversity we may face, we can reach whatever goal we set for ourselves as long as we do not quit.”
Attendees engaged in thoughtful discussions and networking opportunities. The guest speaker was Cabarrus County Sherriff’s Office Sergeant Marsha Williams, who shared her own experiences and offered words of encouragement.
The luncheon served as a beacon of hope and inspiration for current and future generations of women in law enforcement. For more information or to join the Salisbury Police Department, visit: salisburync.gov/police.
