The City of Salisbury is working with the community to create Forward 2040: Salisbury’s Framework for Growth. This is a comprehensive plan to guide the City’s growth over the next 20 years relating to land use, future growth, physical development, and capital improvements. Importantly, Forward 2040 will flow from the people’s vision of how the community should work together and grow wisely.

Emergency and Safety Preparedness Fair
The Salisbury Fire Department will host a “Weathering the Storm – Emergency & Safety Preparedness Fair,” designed to provide residents with information on how to prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. The Fair will be held on Saturday, March 21, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Salisbury Civic Center.
Salisbury-Rowan Utilities (SRU) announces the re-launch of the web-based customer service tool called EyeOnWater. EyeOnWater gives customers their water usage data gathered by SRU’s “smart meters” in near real time so they can manage their accounts down to the week, day, or even hour.

Salisbury City Manager W. Lane Bailey has received the John Whitehurst Service Award at the North Carolina City & County Management Association (NCCCMA) Winter Seminar in Winston-Salem, for his service and dedication to local government management. The award, only given when exceptional candidates are presented, was developed “to honor North Carolina managers who follow Whitehurst’s example of consistency and diligence in his support of all local government professionals.”
The City of Salisbury, in partnership with Rowan County, is encouraging residents to prepare for the 2020 U.S. Census, a count of the country’s population. The census provides important information needed to receive federal funding for schools, hospitals, roads, infrastructure and other needs.
