Fitch Ratings affirms rating for Salisbury’s water and sewer bonds

Fitch Ratings has assigned an 'AA-' rating to the City of Salisbury’s $39.9 million combined enterprise system revenue bonds, series 2020. In addition, Fitch Ratings assessed the city’s water and sewer system’s (the system) Standalone Credit Profile (SCP) at ‘aa-‘. The rating outlook is stable.

Construction to begin on McCoy Road

The City of Salisbury’s utility contractor is scheduled to begin construction on the McCoy Road culvert replacement on Sunday, April 4. A preliminary schedule of work is below. Residents should be aware this schedule is preliminary and dependent upon factors such as weather and material delivery.

Salisbury Police Statement Regarding K9 Officer Training 3-2-2021

The Salisbury Police Department is aware of the video that has been provided to the media depicting a Salisbury officer during canine training but cannot comment in detail because it is an ongoing personnel matter. In accordance with policy, SPD’s review of and response to this matter is and will continue to be thorough and fair so as to provide due process to everyone involved. SPD can confirm that, as a matter of course, the officer has been administratively separated from the canine while SPD conducts its review. The canine was not harmed and is healthy and being well-cared-for.

Salisbury Police Department Officer Arrested 3-14-21

An off-duty Salisbury Police Officer turned himself in this morning following charges by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office on one count of breaking and entering, one count of simple assault, one count of assault on a female, and one count of interfering with calling 911, stemming from an incident late Saturday, March 13. Officer Malik Byrd has been placed on administrative leave with pay from his duties pending further inquiry by the SPD Professional Standards Unit.
