The City Council is the governing body of the City of Salisbury. The Council is comprised of five members who are elected on a non-partisan basis for two-year terms. Each Council member serves at-large and represents the entire City.

Homicide on Wilson Road 3-22-2021

Salisbury Police Department 0 31908

The Salisbury Police Department was dispatched to 703 Wilson Rd, Salisbury, in reference to a gunshot. Upon arrival, officers located Grover Franklin Jones Jr, 32 years old, who had sustained one gunshot. Jones was transported to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.    

 

Detectives are on scene and currently investigating the incident. Anyone with information please contact Detective McElveen at 704-638-5333.

Self-Help Credit Union, (www.self-help.org) now offers an exciting program that expands safe and affordable loan options for small business borrowers who may not have access to traditional resources.  Through a partnership with the cities of Salisbury and Statesville and Livingstone College we are able to offer a creative new way for businesses owned by women and people of color to finance loans up to $15,000.

City Looking For Public Input On 2021 CDBG Funds

The City of Salisbury is currently accepting applications for the CDBG grant program, and will have a virtual public input meeting on March 29 at 4:00 p.m. The primary objective of the program is the development of viable communities by the provision of decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanded economic opportunities, principally for persons of low- and moderate-income.

Job seekers invited to drive-thru job fair Friday, April 9

A host of community partners, including Rowan County, the City of Salisbury, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, Rowan-Salisbury School System, the Rowan Chamber of Commerce, Rowan Economic Development, NCWorks and the Centralina Workforce Development Board, will hold a drive-thru community job fair on Friday, April 9, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at NCWorks Career Center located at 1904 S. Main Street. The fair is open to the public.
