City staff are actively monitoring winter weather conditions to ensure safety and determine any adjustments to City operations. As a reminder, emergency routes will be cleared first. Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads when possible and limit on-street parking so crews can plow and clear roads safely. Priority roads to be cleared include emergency routes, access locations and major streets. The Salisbury Code of Ordinances requires property owners to remove snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their property.
Public Works has the following resources prepared for winter weather safety:
- 10 snow response trucks (5 plow trucks with salt/sand spreaders and 5 plow-only trucks)
- Heavy equipment staged, including a motor grader, two rubber tire loaders and a skid steer
- 2,000 gallons of brine for pre-treatment and 150 tons of bulk salt on hand
- All equipment fueled, inspected and ready, including auxiliary tanks
- Chainsaws and debris removal tools fueled, sharpened and staged
As public works crews prepare to brine roadways, please use caution and do not follow trucks too closely.
The City will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates as needed. To sign up to receive updates directly to your phone, visit: salisburync.gov/RoCoAlerts.
