On Sunday (April 16, 2023) the Salisbury Police Department was dispatched to 1116 Edgedale Drive in reference to a shooting. Officers arrived but were unable to locate anyone injured. Officers were shortly notified that a male subject who was identified as Robert Phillippe (46 years old) had arrived at the Novant Emergency Room with a gunshot wound. Mr. Phillippe was transported to another medical facility with a non-life threatening injury for treatment.

Cheerwine, the iconic 106-year-old cherry soda, and the City of Salisbury will welcome multi-platinum rockers Neon Trees to the Hotwire Communication Stage as the 2023 Cheerwine Festival music headliner. This year’s Cheerwine Festival will be held Saturday, May 20, from noon to 10 p.m.

Salisbury Police Department Hosts Youth Violence Prevention Event

The Salisbury Police Department will host a Youth Violence Prevention Day on Saturday, April 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. in honor of National Youth Violence Prevention Week. The event kicks off with a march followed by remarks from community partners.

Be The Difference, Be A Camp Counselor!

Join our team as a part-time Summer Camp Counselor.

As a Summer Camp Counselor in the City of Salisbury, you can make a difference! The Parks & Recreation Department is seeking motivated candidates who will guide and ensure the safety of children ages 5-12, as they engage in summer camp activities. This position will assist with planning activities, camper supervision, and creating a safe fun environment. Special training and orientation will be provided to ensure participant’s needs are met during camp. Other responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to answering telephone calls; greeting parents and visitors; conducting inventory of equipment, supplies, and games; registering customers for camp; collecting money for registration, and providing transportation by city vehicle for camp activities. Join our team for a rewarding experience!

Minimum Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED and minimal experience in recreation program planning, or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Must have a valid NC Driver’s License

• Excellent customer service skills required

• Availability to work daytime and evening hours.

Closing Date: April 30, 2024

Hiring range: $14.64/ per hour

$500.00 sign-on bonus to be paid as a lump sum after completion of a successful probationary period
