The annual Veteran's Day Parade starts on the grounds of the Hefner VA Medical Center at 1 p.m., Monday November 11. A second parade leaves the VA hospital and reassembles in downtown Salisbury at 2:00 p.m. Local high school bands, Junior ROTC units, and Veterans Service Organizations all participate

This month’s edition of the employee spotlight highlights Salisbury native Scotty Robinson. In 2016, Scotty joined the City of Salisbury as a human resource analyst I focusing on recruitment for various city departments. A year later, he would recruit himself to join the Salisbury Police Department.

The Rowan EDC and North Carolina Commerce Secretary Anthony Copeland announced today that Team Auto Group, a family of automotive dealerships with multiple locations in North Carolina, will expand its office operations in Salisbury.

Time To Nominate For EDK Humanitarian Awards

The Elizabeth Duncan Koontz (EDK) Committee, a subcommittee of the Salisbury Human Relations Council (HRC), is currently accepting nominations for the 2019 Elizabeth Duncan Koontz Humanitarian Awards.

This award recognizes people and/or groups from the Salisbury-Rowan community who have made important contributions to improving human relations in the areas of education, employment, housing, industry, business, civic, church, advocacy and community service. Nominations will be accepted until Friday, January 11, 2019. To nominate a person and/or group, please visit salisburync.gov/EDKnomination.

This award is named in memory of Elizabeth “Libby” Koontz who was one of the organizers who re-established the Human Relations Council in 1985. The Salisbury Human Relations Council was created to identify concerns in the area of human relations, make recommendations regarding issues and engage in activities, which shall be deemed best to the community for all citizens. The HRC consists of sixteen (16) members, eight to be appointed by the City Council of Salisbury and eight to be appointed by the Human Relations Council.
