The City of Salisbury, in partnership with Rowan County, is encouraging residents to prepare for the 2020 U.S. Census, a count of the country’s population. The census provides important information needed to receive federal funding for schools, hospitals, roads, infrastructure and other needs.
The final draft of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan will be presented to City Council on Tuesday, January 7, at a specially-called meeting at 5 p.m. Representatives from Land Design, a nationally-recognized planning, design, architecture, engineering and design firm with an office located in Charlotte, NC will be giving a short presentation on the plan along with representatives from the Parks and Recreation Department.

The Rowan EDC and North Carolina Commerce Secretary Anthony Copeland announced today that Team Auto Group, a family of automotive dealerships with multiple locations in North Carolina, will expand its office operations in Salisbury.
Salisbury will host White House officials on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 10 a.m., at City Hall to discuss Opportunity Zones and tour those designated census tracts within the City. The event will also feature a community discussion in City Council Chambers, beginning at 11 a.m. The event is open to the public.
The time to vote is approaching fast. The deadline to register to vote is Friday, Oct. 11.
If you are not registered by then, you can't vote in 2019. The Municipal Election is on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Salisbury has reached last year’s community development goals. The 2018-19 CAPER (Consolidated Annual Performance & Evaluation Report) details the City’s progress. Public comment on the report's draft is now open.
Salisbury Mayor Al Heggins will host area youth at a free baseball camp as part of the annual United States Conference of Mayors’ (USCM) support of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) “PLAY BALL SUMMER” initiative. The program focuses on the fun nature of baseball, and encourages an active and healthy lifestyle for children in all communities.
This summer, the City of Salisbury welcomed its seventh year of Summer Youth Employees. The Summer Youth Employment program provides a six-week employment opportunity, designed to give high school and college students the knowledge and skills they need to succeed post-graduation. Those selected as summer youth employees spend time in different city departments such as IT, Planning, Parks & Rec, Communications, Transit, and more.

The Rowan EDC announced today that Henkel Corporation, a leading global manufacturer of adhesive technologies, laundry & home care and beauty care products, will expand its operations in Salisbury. The company will invest up to $45 million dollars in new equipment and a series of improvements at its Salisbury facility, including a new state-of-the-art production area for UV Acrylic Adhesives used in tapes and labels within the packaging and consumer goods industry.
