As part of ongoing efforts to enhance traffic safety and reduce speeding in the West End, the City of Salisbury is introducing a temporary neighborhood traffic circle at the intersection of Horah Street and Partee Street. This pilot project, installed from Wednesday, March 5 through Friday, March 14, aims to evaluate the effectiveness of traffic calming measures in the area.
This month’s employee spotlight is Rickey Walls, a 23-year city of Salisbury public works employee. Rickey currently works as a street crew leader, where he makes and hauls compost, manages special projects like the Greenway addition to Catawba, and operates various specialized equipment such as the excavator and motor grader.
The City of Salisbury Public Works Department will begin street resurfacing starting the week of March 10, lasting for approximately six weeks, weather permitting.
On February 26, 2025, at approximately 9:30 PM, the Salisbury Police Department, with the assistance of the Rowan County Sheriff's Office, executed a search warrant at 502 Wesley Drive, Salisbury, NC. The search warrant was obtained due to an ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) case that the Salisbury Police Department Criminal Division started investigating earlier that day.
From Wednesday, February 9 through Tuesday, March 4 at 5 p.m., the City of Salisbury’s Neighborhood Traffic Calming Policy will be available for review by the public. This policy is intended to create safe streets for
all, reduce thoroughfare traffic, and reduce speeding while also guiding and improving staff’s
response to traffic calming requests.
