Message From Mayor Karen Alexander Regarding COVID-19
As the number of cases of the coronavirus, or COVID-19, continues to grow, I want to reassure our residents that the City of Salisbury is taking this situation seriously. The health and safety of you, your family, and our employees remains a priority.
Following the guidance of recent coronavirus advisories provided by federal, state, Rowan County Public Health and other agencies, I’m here to provide the following updates:
The City will continue to provide all services such as garbage, recycling, water, and emergency services. For your safety and the safety of our employees, we encourage residents to utilize the online payment option or use the convenience dropbox sites to deposit money orders or cashier checks. If changes occur to city services, we will post alerts on the City of Salisbury’s social media accounts and the City’s website.
As it relates to activities, the Salisbury Parks and Recreation department will be cancelling the remainder of their youth basketball program this season due to the program gathering at least 100 people or more in the gym at one time.
For information about other City events that are postponed or cancelled, visit salisburync.gov/closings.
Council meetings will remain open to residents; however, we strongly encourage you to watch the meetings live online at salisburync.gov/Webcast or on access16 available on Hotwire channel 394 or spectrum channel 16. You can also contact City Council members with direct questions by visiting salisburync.gov/council for our contact information.
We want you to protect yourself and the community as a whole.
- Please wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, or use the inside of your elbow
- And if you’re sick, please remain isolated from others, except to get medical care.
We will continue to monitor the situation and current guidance regarding COVID-19.
For the most up to date information about COVID-19 regarding our city, you should monitor the Rowan County Public Health website at rowancountync.gov/health. Please visit and encourage others to do the same. Please stay well.
