It is with profound sadness that the City of Salisbury announces the passing of Mayor Karen Alexander, a dedicated public servant whose leadership and vision guided the city toward a brighter future. Mayor Alexander, first elected to Salisbury City Council in 2013, served as mayor during two separate terms beginning in 2015 and again in 2020. Throughout her tenure, she focused on strengthening the community’s economic base, expanding opportunities for residents, and enhancing the overall quality of life.

This month’s employee spotlight is Erica Carter Moore, a Salisbury transit operator. In her role, Erica ensures that buses are ready for the road, performing pre-trip tasks like fueling and prepping the vehicles.

For the second year, the Salisbury Community Appearance Commission has looked to the public to choose the best Downtown Holiday Decor. Voters had 5 categories to choose from and were able to put in their name for a drawing of Downtown Dollars.
During Spruce Up Weeks, City of Salisbury residents can place items at the curb on their regular collection day before 7:00 a.m. The City of Salisbury Public Works Department will pick up your old appliances, tires without rims (limit 5 tires or less per location) and extra bagged trash.
Loose leaves can be piled behind the curb for collection through March 17, 2025. After that, they must be bagged until loose leaf season returns in the Fall.
Salisbury City Council meets every first and third Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. (unless otherwise noted). Council meetings are open to the public.
