During Spruce Up Weeks, City of Salisbury residents can place items at the curb on their regular collection day before 7:00 a.m. The City of Salisbury Public Works Department will pick up your old appliances, tires without rims (limit 5 tires or less per location) and extra bagged trash.

The Greenway, Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee’s mission is to create a safe, connected, and accessible network of bike lanes, sidewalks, and greenways to encourage walking and cycling for transportation, recreation, and health benefits. To advocate for infrastructure improvements, policies, programs, and grants that prioritize alternative modes of transportation for the Salisbury Community. To promote collaboration and partnerships among city and county officials, and staff; tourism; advocacy groups; and the community to insure buy-in and support from the broader constituents. With a goal to integrate new pedestrian and bicycle plans and policy recommendations with existing efforts at local, county, and regional levels.

Sidewalk Poetry Contest: Call For Poets

Did you know that April is National Poetry Month? Rowan County poets are invited to participate in the first Sidewalk Poetry Project! The Public Arts Commission (PAC) modeled the Sidewalk Poetry Project after St. Paul, Minnesota, Santa Clarita, California and Cambridge, Massachusetts programs. The goal of the project is to celebrate Rowan County poets and create a trail of poems within Salisbury’s downtown.

The Salisbury Police Department and Rowan County United Way are proud to announce the Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation (BCJI) Grant Celebration to honor the achievements accomplished through the Summer West End programs. The celebration will take place on Wednesday, April 23, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Hall Gym, 1400 W. Bank St., Ste. B.
