he Salisbury Community Appearance Commission (CAC) and Salisbury Tree Board recognized recipients of the 2018-2019 Biennial Awards. “The awards program is to pay tribute to the many individuals, businesses and organizations that make Salisbury a great city in which to live,” said Jane Creech, chairperson of the CAC.         

City asks for rehearing on flood prone water pump station improvements

The City of Salisbury filed a request for rehearing on Monday, April 13, with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to ask the agency to reconsider and change its decision to approve Cube Hydro’s (Cube) plan for improvements to Salisbury’s critical water supply infrastructure along the Yadkin River.

Cheerwine and the City of Salisbury to Cancel 2020 Cheerwine Festival

After careful consideration and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, as well as state and federal agencies, Cheerwine and the City of Salisbury, N.C., have decided to cancel this year's Cheerwine Festival, originally scheduled for Saturday, May 16. A virtual festival will happen instead, further details to be announced later.

Local Officers Read to Kids For Reading Month

March is National Reading Month across the United States. The Salisbury Police Department (SPD) encourages parents, caretakers and children of all ages to read not only in March but year round. Last month, the officers visited local preschools and elementary schools as part of their National Reading Month challenge to read and promote literacy in the community.
