The Salisbury City Council officially welcomed Carlton A. Jackson Jr. as its newest member. Jackson was sworn in during the Council’s official meeting today, Tuesday Nov. 19 at City Hall, marking the beginning of his service to the community in this important leadership role.
Appointed by the City Council during its Tuesday Nov. 5 meeting, Jackson brings a broad range of experience and a strong commitment to serving the residents of Salisbury.
“We are excited to welcome Carlton to the Council,” said Mayor Alexander. “His commitment to public service and strong connection to our community will enhance our efforts to address Salisbury's key priorities. We look forward to working with him to create meaningful opportunities for all our residents."
Jackson has a long history of community involvement, including multiple terms on the Community Appearance Commission, serving as chair of the Rowan County Department of Social Services, and participating in initiatives such as Rowan Helping Ministries, the Rowan-Salisbury School-to-Work program, and Waterworks Visual Arts. He also brings professional experience in infrastructure, public utilities, customer service, and project management.
“I am honored to officially take my place on the City Council and begin this journey of service,” said Jackson. “I look forward to working collaboratively with my fellow Council members, city staff, and the people of Salisbury to make meaningful progress on the issues that matter most to our community.”
