The Salisbury Police Department will host the NC Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Special Olympics of North Carolina and a BBQ Plate Sale on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Bell Tower Green Park on South Church Street.
The BBQ Plate Sale will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and is available by pre-sale ticket only. Plates are $15 each and include pulled pork barbecue, baked beans, slaw, a roll, and dessert. Drinks will be available for separate purchase. Cash is preferred, and checks should be made payable to the Salisbury Police Department with "NCLETR BBQ Plate Sale" in the memo line.
Earlier in the day, law enforcement officers will participate in the Rowan County leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, carrying the Flame of Hope through Downtown Salisbury. The run is expected to begin at approximately 10:00 a.m. Community members are encouraged to show their support by cheering along the route.
Supporters can also purchase a 2025 LETR T-shirt for $25 through Sgt. Adam Bouk or Sgt. Meredith Walker of the Salisbury Police Department. Those attending the Torch Run are encouraged to wear their shirts on May 14 to show their support for the cause.
Proceeds from the event benefit Special Olympics North Carolina, helping provide training and competition opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Sgt. Bouk or Sgt. Walker at 704-638-5333.
