City of Salisbury Begins Nighttime Test Hole Excavations as Part of Main Street Design Process

City of Salisbury Begins Nighttime Test Hole Excavations as Part of Main Street Design Process

As part of the Main Street design process, the City of Salisbury will begin nighttime test hole excavations to help identify more precise locations of underground utilities and infrastructure. The work is scheduled to begin on the evening of Monday, Sept. 9, and will follow a night-time schedule of 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Thursday.

The work will begin in the 200 and 300 blocks of South Main Street.  Parking along the east side of Main Street within this area will be restricted beginning at p.m. and will re-open at the completion of each night’s work.  There will also be lane closures and traffic shifts as necessary to accommodate the test hole locations. The contractor will move north on Main Street on subsequent nights, ending at the intersection of Kerr Street.  City staff will notify each affected block before that night’s work.

Residents can expect this work to be noisy, as it will utilize jackhammers, concrete saws, and equipment that must remain running at a high RPM to maintain suction for the vacuum excavation.  Staff is working with the contractor to complete the test hole work in a timely manner and hopes to minimize any inconvenience.  For additional information, questions or concerns, please contact Wendy Brindle at 704-638-5201 or by email at wbrin@salisburync.gov.
