This month’s employee spotlight is Rickey Walls, a 23-year city of Salisbury public works employee. Rickey currently works as a street crew leader, where he makes and hauls compost, manages special projects like the Greenway addition to Catawba, and operates various specialized equipment such as the excavator and motor grader.
“My favorite part of the job is operating equipment. I’ve been doing it my whole life, so it’s second nature to me. I enjoy seeing the final outcome of my work and being able to step back and admire the finished product. It’s fulfilling to see projects I’ve contributed to around the city, and I take pride in them. When others need help with their work, they know they can count on me to step in, make adjustments, or fix anything that needs attention.”
