The 2020 General Election is approaching fast and with that, another important deadline will be here before we know it. That important date is Friday, Oct. 9. If you have not registered to vote by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, you will not be eligible to vote in the General Election held on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Absentee Voting By-Mail: Absentee voting by-mail began on Friday, Sept. 4, in Rowan County. The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is Tuesday, Oct. 27. The last day to return an absentee ballot by mail is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Early Voting: The Rowan County Board of Elections office located at 1935 W. Jake Alexander Blvd. (West End Plaza) will be the (1) one-stop early voting site for Salisbury. Any registered voter in Rowan County is welcome to take advantage of the early voting site. Early voting will begin Thursday, Oct. 15, and ends Saturday, Oct. 31, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays (Oct. 17, Oct. 24 and Oct. 31) from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.; and Sundays (Oct. 18 and Oct. 25) from 1 - 5 p.m.
Same-day Registration Available During Early Voting Period: Individuals who miss Friday’s deadline may register and vote at the same time during the one-stop early voting period, October 15-31, at any early voting site in their county. County-by-county early voting sites and schedules are available at the State Board’s One-Stop Early Voting Site Search.
Election Day Voting: Polls will open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020. You will not be able to vote at the Board of Elections office on Election Day. You will be required to go to your registered polling place.
